We do free consultations and prices vary per area and type of hair.

The following are some frequently asked questions and answers related to laser hair removal.

How effective is laser hair removal?
Laser Hair Removal is the most permanent way to remove face and body hair. We have specifically chosen the Apogee 6200, an FDA approved laser, because in our experience it offers the best results.

How many sessions are required?
Generally, laser hair removal requires 4-6 sessions, depending on the area. This is because every hair follicle goes through three phases of growth – the anagen, catogen, and telogen phase. The anagen phase is the active phase in which the hair is susceptible to damage from the laser. It is important to target the hair when it is in the earliest stage of the anagen phase.

Is the treatment painful?
We believe in making every patient’s experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, no matter what the procedure. Prior to laser hair removal a topical anaesthetic is applied to minimize patient discomfort. The Apogee 6200 also uses a cooling device that helps to cool the dermis. Some patients describe the feeling as a “snapping” feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second.

What kind of results can I expect from laser hair removal?
Each laser hair removal treatment progressively damages the hair follicle resulting in slower, thinner growth. Typically patients experience 80% hair loss. After the initial 4-6 treatments many patients return for maintenance treatments a few times a year. Individual results will vary depending on genetic and medical factors.

How frequently do I need treatments?
The frequency varies depending on the area being treated. Generally treatments are performed every 6-12 weeks.

What can be expected after each treatment?
Most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. Temporary pinkness or follicular swelling (tiny red bumps surrounding the hair follicle) last a very short time. Post laser lotion or aloe can be applied to cool the skin. The treated area will shed the hair over the next two to three weeks. Waxing, plucking and depilatories should be avoided during the laser hair removal process.
