What is Laser Therapy?
Lasers can reverse and remove the physical appearance of aging. These treatments utilize coherent monochromatic light to target brown spots produced by melanin and red spots due to broken blood vessels. Certain lasers can also be used to treat the removal of small growths, such as, skin tags and moles, as well treat acne and other scars. Lasers can also be used to stimulate the growth of new skin cells and collagen.
What types of issues can be treated with Laser Therapy?
In our practice we use Lasers to remove small growths, such as, skin tags and moles, for the treatment of acne, acne scarring and other types of scars. Laser rejuvenation therapies can also be used to stimulate the growth of new skin cells and collagen, resulting in rejuvenated skin.
What types of Lasers do we use?
We utilize a variety of laser technology to address a wide range of skin needs.
Our lasers include, Laser Genisis to treat Acne, dispersed redness, and to reduce the appearance of pores and scars. The Nd Yag 1064 to treat broken capillaries (facial telangiectasia), broken capillaries in legs (fine leg telangiectasia), certain types of spider veins, and red spots (cherry or spider angioma) in Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV. We also the Nd Yag 1064 for laser hair removal in Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI.
We also use an Aura 532 to treat moles, skin tags, broken capillaries (facial telangiectasia), red spots (cherry angioma), scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, warts, and to spot treat hyper-pigmentation.
How long does treatment take?
Depending on the complexity of the issue, treatment usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes. For maximum benefit, treatments are usually repeated 3 to 4 times over the course of several months. These types of treatment treatment do not require significant downtime, however some redness and light scabbing may occur with certain applications.
Is there any down-time post procedure?
Usually there is little to no down-time with Laser therapies. Occasionally patients will experience minor redness post-procedure. Generally redness dissipates within the same day of treatment.
Post-treatment, patients are advised to avoid excess UV exposure and to wear ample amounts of sunscreen.
