The Dr. Anita MensaSkin: Hyper-pigmentation Peel
The Dr. Anita MensaSkin™ Treatment System for Hyper-pigmentation is a Retinoid-based topical treatment peel recommended for patients with moderate to severely sun-damaged skin, melasma and acne. This treatment is suitable for all skin types and yield especially good results on skin types prone to hyper-pigmentation.
How is it applied?
The treatment is applied in-office and should remain on for 8-10 hours and washed off at home, as per your doctor’s instructions.
Patients will leave the office while wearing the peel mask, and given post-peel instructions for removing the mask at home.
How does the treatment work?
The Dr. Anita MensaSkin™ Hyper-pigmentation Peel works by blocking site-specific enzymes within the skin that produce hyper-pigmentation. Additionally, the retinoid-base works to increase cell turnover, which over time improves skin’s tone.
What makes the Dr. Anita MensaSkin™ Hyper-pigmentation Peel so effective?
The key reason Dr. Anita MensaSkin™ Hyper-pigmentation Peel treatment is an effective treatment for severe melasma is its retinoid-base. Currently, Retinoids are the best and only scientifically proven anti-aging medication available. Data suggests that regular retinoid use can thicken skin, improve tone, texture, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How is it applied?
The peel is applied in-office and must remain on the skin for 8 to 10 hours. Patients are instructed on how to remove the peel at home, as well as given take-home post-peel instructions.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
Five to seven days prior to your appointment we recommend avoiding the following products and medications:
• Any products containing Retinol, AHA, BHA, or Benzyl Peroxide
• Retin-A (Tretinoin)
• Differin (Adapsline)
• Tazorac (Tazarotene)
• Avage (Tazarotene)
Additionally, we suggest avoiding exfoliating products as they may irritate or over dry your skin.
What should I expect after treatment?
After the mask is removed, patients should follow the post-care instructions provided by our office. Patients should expect peeling of the treated area in about 2 to 3 days after treatment. On average, peeling can last anywhere between 3 to 7 days.
Some patients will not experience a significantly visible peel phase. This is not a sign of unresponsiveness, the peel is simply working subsurface. These patients will still have a reduction in hyper-pigmentation, as well as improvements to tone and texture.
Some patients may develop swelling, redness, rash as a result of the normal progression of the treatment. If this concerns you, or you experience severe swelling or severe rash and discomfort, please contact our office at 212-535-5905 for further instructions.
Does this require multiple treatments?
Most patients only require one Dr. Anita MensaSkin™ Hyper-pigmentation Peel treatment to achieve the desired result, however depending on the severity of the hyper-pigmentation, some patients may require a second treatment. This is usually within 3 to 6 months after the initial treatment.
These patient’s will also need to follow a prescribed skincare regimen for maximum benefit and minimal relapse.
